Head and Neck cancer: Imaging?

 UMCU: every Wednesday 13.30-16.00 – All new patients – All known patients with new event

 Imaging results in more accurate TNM- staging compared to clinical examination alone!  Clinical examination and imaging are complementary modalities – Findings should be discussed in multidisciplinary setting

Ultrasound

 Indication: – Neck swelling / known H&N tumor

Imaging techniques for evaluation H&N ca.

 Ultrasound  Panoramic dental X-ray  CT  MRI  (FDG PET)

 Localisation – Relation with surrounding structures  Characterisation – Cystic / solid / vascularity  Cytologic / histologic material
