Case 1: patient with stage N+ (D1) disease
• A 78-year-old man was shown to have a prostate- specific antigen (PSA) level of 18 ng/mL in a routine evaluation. • His physical exam was normal and the digital rectal examination revealed a slightly enlarged prostate (87 cc by transrectal ultrasound). • Prostatic biopsy revealed a Gleason score 8 (4 + 4) adenocarcinoma in 7 of 12 specimens. • His past medical history was significant for systemic hypertension and dyslipidemia.
