Static IMRT vs VMAT - Conceptual issues

Is there any difference between static IMRT and VMAT?

• Use the same hardware • Can be virtually ‘ mapped ’ onto each other: – S-IMRT with infinite number of beams  VMAT – VMAT with infinitely small gantry speeds (quasi static)  S-IMRT
