Analysis using DVHs • The main drawback of DVHs is the loss of spatial information that results from the condensation of data when DVHs are calculated. • The parameters of volume and dose are useful, but some questions remain unanswered:  Is an entire segment across the spinal cord being irradiated or just an elongated segment on one side?  In combined lung DVHs, is one lung receiving a very high dose and the other very little dose, or are both receiving equal dose?
