Basic Treatment Planning

Advantages: Inverse Planning • Inverse planning for IMRT has several advantages over traditional forward planning:  Improved dose homogeneity inside the target volume and better potential for limited irradiation of surrounding OARs  Increased speed and less complexity in finding an optimised dose distribution.  Allows treatment of areas that may otherwise be impossible to treat (e.g. head and neck close to critical structures, re-treatments)
