- Multiple retrospective studies have suggested improved local control and survival in those patients with optimal surgical debulking - Tzortzidis reported that in patients with chordomas who underwent surgery aimed at performing a complete resection, GTR could be accomplished in only 72%. - The 10-year recurrence-free survival was 31% indicating that even after GTR, the likelihood of tumor control is low with surgery alone
