Steroid tapering

• Tapering should be persued as soon as clinically possible • Short treatment => rapid tapering • Long duration of therapy => slow tapering => Watch for signs of hypocortisolism! • Nausea, vomiting, headaches • Myalgia, hypotension • Manifest hypocortisolism: substitution with hydrocortisone => average daily dose: 20-30 mg
