The Radiation Therapy Process: Categories of Uncertainty
From the point of view of uncertainty analysis and uncertainty modeling, it is useful to sort uncertainties into two major categories:
1. Human-related (patient or personnel) uncertainties and
2. Technology or Dose-related uncertainties
Human-related uncertainties can be analyzed by considering the radiation therapy process from a patient’s perspective (i.e., patient’s-eye view), whereas technology-related uncertainties can be addressed by considering a machine perspective (i.e., machine’s-eye view), including dosimetry, commissioning, and quality control processes.
