Implant withdrawal
• Bleeding is the main complication during withdrawal of the interstitial implant in oral or oropharynx ca. • A clear protocol to remove the implant should be stated. ➢ Low risk cases (lip, nasopharynx) can be removed at the BT unit ➢ Intermediate risk (oral tongue) in the O.R. with topic local anaesthesia ➢ High risk (base of tongue) under general anaesthesia. ➢ Remove the tubes from the easiest one to the most complicated.
