Numerous approximations whose impact on the final dose accuracy should not be ignored!

• CT remains the preferred image modality • CT calibration curves and tissue segmentation key to accurate dose calculation – More important for Protons and keV (and Brachytherapy) – Some common practices to establish tissue characterisatoin can introduce systematic errors into dose planning • Dw and Dm debate continues but important to specify medium in literature – We’re talking about cell composition! – Verification of Dm calculations?
