Dutch CARTS study

• 55 patients – cT1 N0 = 10, cT2 N0 = 29, cT3 N0 =16

• 47 patients had TEM

– ypT0-1 disease in 30

• Local recurrence developed in 3 of 9 (33%) patients with ypT2 tumours who declined further surgery

• TEM after chemo-radiotherapy enabled organ preservation in one-half of the patients with rectal cancer
