Conclusion Our multivariable models show that there is prognostic information within routinely collected blood and clinical variables in patients undergoing CRT and consolidation IO for locally advanced NSCLC. Expansion of the cohort and further validation in similar cohorts are required to investigate if these variables remain significant and therefore have clinical utility.

1 GROW School for Oncology and Developmental Biology, Maastricht University Medical Center+, Department of Radiation Oncology (Maastro), Maastricht, The Netherlands; 2 Yancheng Third People's Hospital (The Yancheng School of Clinical Medicine of Nanjing Medical University), Department of Radiotherapy, Yancheng, China; 3 The University of Hong Kong Shenzhen Hospital, Department of Clinical Oncology, Shenzhen, China; 4 Xiamen University, School of Medicine, Xiamen, China Purpose or Objective Proton therapy has been used in many thoracic cancer patients, but its merits are not widely accepted. We therefore looked at the selected patient population (all patients vs. high-risk groups for toxicity) in the past and present prospective studies. Materials and Methods Five literature search platforms were screened: PubMed, Embase, Cochrane Library, Medline, and Web of Science. ClinicalTrials.gov was exampled to summarize the registered clinical trials. MeSH words include Breast, Lung, Esophagus, Thorax, Mediastinum, Neoplasms, Clinical Trials as Topic, and Random Allocation. Corresponding Entry Terms are also searched. Search query is like “(Breast [MeSH] OR its [Entry Terms]) AND (Neoplasms [MeSH] OR its [Entry Terms]) AND ((Clinical Trials as Topic [MeSH] OR its Entry Terms) OR (Random Allocation [MeSH] OR its [Entry Terms]))”. The Random Effect Model is chosen when I^2 >50%; otherwise, the Fixed Effect Model is chosen. Results A total of 6537 publications were identified from PubMed (600), Embase (1958), Cochrane Library (478), Medline (1875), and Web of Science (1626). Additionally, 270 clinical trials were searched from ClinicalTrials.gov. Finally, Five published randomized clinical trials (Table 1) and another fifteen ongoing clinical trials (Table 2) are reviewed.
