Purpose/Objective:
According to the World Health Organization (WHO), sexual health is fundamental to overall health and is relevant throughout life. There are several factors influencing toxicity in the sexual sphere in gynaecologic cancer survivors. These factors can be divided into three sections: biological, interpersonal and psychosocial aspects. There are not many studies on the sexual sphere in women survivors of gynaecologic cancer. Due to the lack of evidence on this topic and with the aim of knowing the status of care of sexual toxicity in Spanish radiation oncology departments, a national survey was designed on behalf of the Spanish Group of Gynaecological Tumors (GINECOR) of the Spanish Society of Radiation Oncology (SEOR) between all the members of the group. The purpose is to provide a current review of different aspects of the sexual sphere in gynaecological cancer survivors.
Material/Methods:
Before discussing the statements, we conducted a comprehensive analysis of current medical literature from peer-reviewed journals to define clinical scenarios and evidence-based treatment options. A 2-round web-based modified Delphi study was conducted to formulate recommendations. In those instances where evidence is lacking or not definitive, expert opinion was used to formulate recommendations. Prior to the first round, a national online survey was conducted in February 2023 among 95 members of GINECOR from 58 radiotherapy departments. The questions included aspects related to the diagnosis, treatment, and follow-up of sexual toxicity. Questions were also included on the different factors that may influence the patients' quality of sexual life (biological, psychosocial, and interpersonal factors). We recruited 10 radiation oncologists, 1 gynaecologist and 2 radiation oncology nurses from different Spanish regions to carry out the 2-round. The results
