Purpose/Objective:
Hypothyroidism is a well-known late adverse event after radiotherapy for head and neck cancer, and it requires long-term medical intervention and increases the patient burden. A multi-institutional open-label phase II/III trial of JCOG1008 proved the non-inferiority of weekly cisplatin to 3-weekly cisplatin for postoperative radiotherapy in high risk patients with squamous cell carcinoma of the head and neck. The aim of this analysis was to elucidate the factors associated with hypothyroidism by analyzing the association between hypothyroidism and clinical or dosimetric characteristics, using JCOG1008 data.
