Conclusion:

Transcriptional overexpression of TGF- β and IL -6 was associated with a significant increase of risk of local recurrence in patients with HNSCC treated with chemo-radiotherapy or bio-radiotherapy. These markers might be considered as a valuable biomarker for estimating response to RT. Further studies are required to be published to confirm this hypothesis.
