Conclusion:
We demonstrated that dose rates up to 230 Gy/s can be achieved at the synchrotron-based proton and carbon ion beamline at MIT without the need for significant modifications. However, in terms of the stability and accuracy for further experiments, a controlled extraction of the particles is indispensable, which is currently being implemented. Therefore, an external ionization chamber filled with helium gas is included for beam monitoring. This way, a scanned beam application will be possible to cover a larger area with a homogeneous dose distribution.
