Conclusion:
This study highlights the value of process mining, as demonstrated here, offering the potential to align the gap between theoretical best practice and real-world application, ushering in a future of more personalised, evidence based care for rectal cancer patients. Although the guidelines are undeniably comprehensive, they may not be fully adaptable to all clinical contexts and newer protocols. This study highlights the importance of periodic reviewing of clinical guidelines, in accordance with technological and therapeutic developments, to support more adaptive and flexible strategies that take into account the different conditions of patients.
