induction chemotherapy, increase in PC5 was significantly predicted by LV5 (B=0.03; P<0.01) and MLD (B=0.21; P<0.01), but not MHD (B=0.07; P=0.11).

PC2, 3, 4 and 6 were not independently predicted by LV5, MHD or MLD at any time point.

Conclusion:

After thoracic radiotherapy, early changes in various aspects of cardiac function and morphology occur. In line with previous animal studies, these changes are not only associated with heart dose, but also lung dose. Since radiation dose, clinical and patient factors all appear to play a role, this suggests that the observed cardiac changes may be minimized through individualized treatment optimization.
