Clinical outcome of palliative radiotherapy for oligometastatic and non-oligometastatic lung cancer.

Purpose/Objective:

To aim to investigate the clinical outcome of palliative radiotherapy for the patients with oligometastatic or non oligometastatic non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC).

Material/Methods:

We retrospectively investigated the patients received palliative radiotherapy for oligometastatic or non oligometastatic NSCLC between April 2017 and March 2022 at our institute. We collected the following data from medical records: age, sex, Eastern Cooperative Oncology Group Performance Status (ECOG-PS), classification of oligometastatic disease according to ESTRO-EORTC consensus recommendation, clinical stage at diagnosis according to UICC 8 th edition, histology, and biological effective dose (BED 10 ). Overall survival (OS) and the difference between the curves were calculated using Kaplan – Meier method and log-rank test.

Results:

Of the 140 eligible patients with 150 lesions, the median follow-up period was 7.8 months. The median age was 72 years (range, 35 – 91 years); 96 males and 44 males. There were 37 oligometastatic NSCLC, including 31 de-novo, 3 repeat, and 3 induced, and 103 non-oligometastatic NSCLC. Twenty-eight patients were in cStage I – II at diagnosis, 24
