performances did not significantly differ in visual anterograde memory (face recognition), autobiographical memory and semantic memory.
MD values correlated significantly with related memory scores in cerebellum (visual and verbal working memory, (r<-0.63, p<0.02) and in right hippocampus (episodic memory and EPIREAL, r<-0.5, p<0.01).
Conclusion:
DTI showed microstructure alterations in memory-related areas. Indeed, DTI metrics values were significantly different between groups and a significant correlation was found with doses to cerebellum and left caudate nucleus. In the other hand, memory performances in all PFT survivors, especially in irradiated group, were lower compared to control group and were correlated to DTI metrics values. These preliminary results (i) indicate that radiotherapy affects the microstructure of specific cerebral structures and (ii) identify DTI as a potential biomarker of structure-dependent memory deficit.
