Brachytherapy - Gynaecology
ESTRO 2024
Conclusion:
The VR-based training system demonstrated promising ability to accurately simulate needle placement for interstitial brachytherapy. Therefore, it can be a valuable training tool for clinical skill development. The implementation of real-time interactive VR interstitial systems should be further explored in clinical practice.

Purpose/Objective:
In cervical brachytherapy the priority of delivering a tumouricidal dose to the tumour needs the be balanced with the constraints for the surrounding organs at risk (OARs). When evaluating a brachytherapy plan a minimum of 5 variables per fraction need to be assessed: HRCTV d90 and the d2cc for bladder, rectum, sigmoid and small bowel. We propose the use of an n-dimensional vector to derive a single measurement (z) from these variables to help quantify the plan quality.
