Next-generation imaging to set patient-tailored management of post-prostatectomy biochemical relapse

Purpose/Objective:

To present our preliminary experience of practice changing towards precision radiation oncology guided by next generation imaging (NGI) in a cohort of patients evaluated at our Institutional Uro-oncology Tumor Board for prostate cancer biochemical recurrence (BCR) after radical prostatectomy (RP), submitted to pre-salvage treatment staging with Prostate-specific membrane antigen (PSMA)-PET/CT and/or prostate multiparametric magnetic resonance (mpMRI), given the growing interest and opportunities for application of the principles of precision oncology in Radiotherapy.

Material/Methods:

Data from 35 consecutive patients with post- RP PSA rising up to ≥0.20 ng/ml evaluated for standard prostate bed salvage radiotherapy (SRT) at our Institution between June 2018 and June 2023 were retrospectively reviewed. All of them underwent centralized PSMA PET/CT and mpMRI (for in-bed recurrence confirmation) before decision-making. Clinical and histological parameters with known or suspected impact on the subject were also collected. This study is part of Clinical Outcome of Radiotherapy Treatment in Azienda Toscana Nord-Ovest (CORTATNO) research project funded by Tuscany Region.
