on the contouring task, most viewed their radiological background inadequate, with more than 50% scoring 3 or less out of 5.
The results showed an increase in interest in radiation oncology after the program among several students, with three students scoring 5 out of 5 (Figure 2).
Additionally, all students strongly recommend that this activity be offered to other fourth-year medical students.
Conclusion:
An interactive clerkship experience that introduces students to a specialty can change their perception of it and can significantly impact career decisions. This study aims to demonstrate that such programs can improve student’s perception of radiation oncology and can generate interest in this specialty. We are going to use these results to better design our interactive program to introduce and involve students in our specialty.
