Purpose/Objective:

Our UK-based FRCR (Fellowship of the Royal College of Radiologists) course was established in 1986 as an annual face-to-face revision course, to deliver a high-quality learning experience for clinical oncology trainees in preparation of their FRCR Clinical Oncology Part 2B - the final examination, required for completion of training in the UK. In recent years, the course has needed to rapidly adapt to the Covid pandemic, along with the changing needs of trainees/trainers who face a new curriculum and examination methods, high clinical pressures and levels of burnout, increasing costs of living and environmental concerns. Hybrid teaching (mixed virtual and in-person) can alleviate some of these but can be challenging to deliver well. We describe our evolution from a solely face-to-face course pre-Covid, to a fully online course peri-pandemic, to our current 3-part, ‘tribrid’ model: i) pre-recorded, flexibly accessed virtual lectures, ii) live online (fully virtual) course and iii) in-person teaching. We explore the benefits/challenges of delivering such a course and present feedback from both trainees and faculty members.

Material/Methods:

Our FRCR Course attracts trainees from both across the UK and internationally, including Hong Kong, India and other countries. The table summarises the course’s evolution over time. Due to the pandemic the course became entirely virtual (2020/2021) - one of few revision courses to continue during the pandemic.
