Brachytherapy - Gynaecology

ESTRO 2024

Conclusion:

Both treatment plannings with the different fractionation schedules seem to offer similar results considering VCR and late complications. The higher doses in Group 1 without an increase in complications could be explained by a possible different use of vaginal dilators in Group 1. VBT schedules with a lower number of fractions are more comfortable for patients. Although 2D planning is easier and has a lesser workload than 3D planning, in the present era we recommend 3D planning since it allows a more personalized treatment and clearer dose knowledge in OARs. Studies using 3D dosimetric parameters are necessary to compare these fractionation schedules.
