and 440 (21.3%) received ultra-hypofractionated treatment in 5 fractions (26-32Gy). We employed the U-Mann Whitney test in conjunction with descriptive statistics to analyze our dataset.

Results:

According to the 2022 report issued by the European Automobile Manufacturers' Association (ACEA) the average emissions emitted by vehicles in Spain sold in 2021 was 126.8g/km of CO2. The total carbon emission for all patient travels was 263.27 tons with an average carbon emission per treatment of 127.2 kg. When we analyzed the total distances traveled for the three treatment schedules used (normofractionation, hypofractionation, and ultra-hypofractionation) we found significant differences between them (p < 0.001). In the case of normofractionated treatment, the median total distance traveled was 900km (range, 350-6700), for hypofractionation was 630km (range, 210-4020), and for ultra-hypofractionation was 210km (range, 70-1340; Figure 1).

There were significant differences when comparing the CO2 emitted between the three schedules (p < 0.001). The median CO2 emissions related to travels in the normofractionated schedule was 114.12kg (range, 44.38-849.5), in the hypofractionated schedule was 79.9kg (range, 26.6-509.74), and in the ultra-hypofractionated schedule was 26.63kg (range, 8.88-169.91; Figure 2).

The 5-fraction schedule avoids an average CO2 emission of 91kg/patient (65% reduction) and 150.25kg (75% reduction) compared with the 15 and 25-fraction schedules, respectively.
