Off protocol patients are reviewed at a monthly departmental meeting. In the period July 2023 - October 2023 23 patients were referred for an off-protocol technique. Implementing this workflow has reduced time to collate relevant patient information from approximately 60 minutes to 10 minutes.

Conclusion:

A standardised auditable workflow for managing off protocol patients has been implemented in the department. This allows peer review and exposure authorisation as recommended in UK guidance and legislation, and has reduced clinical time required in this patient pathway.
