Physics - Autosegmentation

ESTRO 2024

Results:

The auto-segmentation results summarized in Table 1 show the mean and the standard deviation (Std) of DSC from all the patients by structure with a side-by-side comparison of all the DECT-derived images. Between ground truth segmentation and automatic segmentation from the same serie (80kV DD), the delineation reveals differences with a DSC range going from 0.57±0.16 (left brachial plexus) to 0.98±0.04 (brain). The results demonstrate the highest scores for all the structures on the 80kV DD serie compared to the 80kV and the 40keV. For large to mid-sized structures such as brain, mandible and lymph node V, ART-Plan has a close performance of auto-segmentation between the 80kV and 40keV series ranging from 0.00 to 0.01 of DSC difference. For all the other structures, DSC of the 80kV serie ranged higher than the DSC of the 40keV image. The score of the 80kV image ranged from 0.50±0.13 (left brachial plexus) to 0.87±0.12 (mouth) and the score of the 40keV VMI ranged from 0.44±0.15 (right brachial plexus) to 0.83±0.12 (mouth). As an example, Figure 1 shows side-by-side all the images with their self-segmentation of the parotid glands, demonstrating improved contrast for the 40keV image while the DSC is the lowest.
