Conclusion:

The technical prerequisites of the SAPPHIRE project are fulfilled, a framework utilizing the SMART+ IB small animal imaging and irradiation device, designed for preclinical image-guided proton and photon comparison experiments at the UPTD. Beam models for photon and proton treatment were implemented and validated in µRayStation. Suitable setups and QA protocols for mouse imaging and irradiation were established. Hence, future preclinical animal experiments are prepared in a clinic-like workflow.

Keywords: small animal imaging & proton irradiation setup
