The detector response measured for an irradiation of 1s is plotted in Fig. 2. It is linear and does not depend on the dose rate, which mean that there is no energy dependence over this range of beam spectra. This is in line with predictions based on the combined use of large and small cavity theories. There is no observable degradation of detector response after an irradiation of 100 kGy.
Conclusion:
We propose a new type of detector implementing a heterogeneous cavity in an RW3 phantom. The first prototype has been designed, fabricated and tested in MRT conditions of dose rate and spectra. Preliminary results show a linear dose response with no dose rate dependence. Its radiation hardness makes it suitable for routine use in synchrotron MRT dosimetry. Further work is underway to study its energy dependence over a wider range of X-ray photon spectra.
