ESTRO 2024

Results:

The results showed that the PGI shift curves are noticable and consistent with the phantom shifts (Figure 2 - Bottom). A first evaluation was made regarding the shift deviations from the expected ones obtaining a mean deviation of 0.24 mm from the expected shift positions. In order to compare the simulations results with the experimental ones we evaluated the precision in retrieving the particle range for a statistic of four times the simulations (2 × carbon ions) since we are dealing with a detector four times smaller.

We obtained a precision of 4.68 mm (2σ) for the experimental case, so near to the target 4.2 mm of the FLUKA simulations.
