parameters and doses of points in a given distance from the source were calculated for both methods and compared using Wilcoxon Matched Pairs Test.
Results:
The calculation time was 1-2 s using TG-43, while 6.8 min (range: 0.5-91.0 min) in bronchus and 16.4 min (6-33 min) in cervix BT, which correlates with the volume of the target: R2=0.48 (p=0.0138).
The maximal difference in the dose parameters calculated with the TG-43 and the MDBCA algorithms was 1.8% in bronchial and 1.7% in cervical cases. Regarding the reference points, the TG-43 algorithm overestimates the dose on the surface of the source by 42.8% and 33.8% in bronchial and cervical cases, and this difference decreases exponentially with the distance from the source, and disappears at 1 cm (Figure).
