Conclusion:

Switching from convolution/superposition to advanced algorithms in the treatment of meningiomas infiltrating bone, without further considerations in the planning process and approach, results in significant dose differences within the bone tissue infiltrating the CTV and the CTV itself. These differences have the potential to enhance the TCP, at the expense of increased NTCP in bone and a reduction of dose homogeneity within the CTV. The dosimetric and potential clinical impacts should be rigorously assessed when implementing advanced algorithms in clinical practice.
