Conclusion:

Given the high dependence on the MLC- or collimator-defined aperture sizes, due acknowledgment should be made to accurate beam modelling alongside adequate linac commissioning and ongoing quality assurance (4) in this demanding setting. However, this novel work demonstrates that even for the smallest and most complex SRS targets it is possible to achieve highly accurate and clinically acceptable delivered dose gradients using a standard Truebeam linear accelerator without the use of a high-definition MLC using treatment plans produced in Varian Eclipse without the need for a separate beam model.
