Conclusion:
4D dose calculations that model panning/tilting are essential for accurate dosimetry and safety of DTT treatments. 4D treatment planning strategies should be implemented when creating a DTT plan to improve sparing of OARs. The “Boolean OAR” method is simple to implement, however target coverage may be compromised, and OAR sparing is not guaranteed. The “Aperture Sorting” method takes longer to implement and a unique treatment delivery, but it results in improved OAR sparing while preserving target coverage. These 4D dose calculations and planning strategies were developed for the Vero4DRT linac, but could be adapted for any tracking system.
