Figure 2: Start angle and rotation length (difference between stop and start angle, inner circles) were plotted for rare cases (<100 occurrences). The colour code resembled the number of occurrences for a specific combination of start angle and range. The upper chart showed the clinical data, the lower chart the automatically calculated beams.

Conclusion:

Automatic beam angle determination for oligo-metastatic treatments is feasible as in 65% of the cases, beam angles are identical compared to human, template-based, setup. In case of deviations, dose impact can be considered negligible, which paves the way for fully automated treatment plan generation.
