Figure 1 Schematic of the challenge pipeline . After submission, the algorithm was run on the hosting site to generate sCT. The sCT evaluation comprises image, photon, and proton metrics. The ranking followed the exclusion of teams and metric normalization.

Results:

The SynthRAD2023 Grand Challenge garnered substantial participation, with 621 participants registering for the challenge and 40 final valid submissions (23/17 for task 1/2).

One team won both tasks: Task 1 with an average MAE of 58.8±13.4 (mean ± std) HU and gamma pass rates of 98.2±4.4% and 97.3±2.6% for photon and proton plans, respectively; Task 2 with an average MAE of 50.0±11.8 HU, and gamma pass rates of 99.5±1.6% and 97.6±3.1% for photon and proton plans, respectively. No trends were found between the architectural features and performances.
