ESTRO 2024

The CT-number differences between different phantom sizes increased with increasing bone density, with maximum difference 172 HU observed for cortical bone between images acquired with scanner S1 (Table 1a). iBHC reduced the CT-number differences in S3 images for all bone materials to within 11 HU. The SPR CT-numbers in the DirectSPR images acquired with scanner S2 and S3 were within 19 SPR-HU compared to the reference SPRs for all bones. All SPRs were within 1.2% of the reference SPRs (Table 1b).

Conclusion:

The patient size affected the SECT CT-numbers of bones. iBHC reduced the patient size dependence of the bone CT numbers. DECT with DirectSPR provided SPRs within 1.2% of the reference SPRs for all four bone rods, in both phantom sizes.
