The dose ratio (D IAEA / D user ) ranged from 0.950 to 1.037 with an average of 0.995. Results for all participating centres are shown in Figure 1. The average result for the 192 Ir afterloader sets (n=45) was 0.989 ± 0.015 and for the 60 Co afterloader sets (n=14) was 1.013 ± 0.011. The results indicate that all irradiated dosimeter sets were within ± 5%, with the majority of irradiations (56/59 sets) being within ± 3%.

Figure 1: The results of the multi-centre pilot study. The red-lines indicate the 0.95-1.05 limits and the yellow lines the 0.97-1.03 limits. The error bars indicate the estimated standard uncertainty of 2.3% (k=1).

Conclusion:

This international multi-centre pilot test has shown good performance of the developed methodology and suitability for comparing the measured dose to the dose stated by the participating centres. Further analysis is needed in order to deploy the methodology as a regular service to Member States.
