concerning the realistic CT of GT was evaluated employing similarity metrics, such as SSIM and Normalized Cross Correlation (NCC). Figure 1 shows our approach to validation.

The predicted sCT (e) from cGAN was compared by means of similarity metrics with the realistic CT of GT (d). Unmatched patient MRI and CT are reported for a qualitative comparison of the results.
Results:
The computed metrics showed a reasonable anatomical preservation between realistic and phantom images and a good degree of correlation between realistic and patient histograms. Figure 2 shows the results achieved by the two CycleGANs. Regarding the validation of sCT generation with realistic phantoms, the similarity metrics between the predicted sCT and the realistic CT of GT (Table 2) resulted aligned with the literature (MAE_tot = 65.98 ± 7.54 H.U.).
