From a quality assurance perspective, staff should be competent to work with PET-CT datasets in radiotherapy planning and feel confident to follow recommendations such as selection of appropriate datasets, and approaches with image fusion. Having specific local guidelines, site specific where applicable, is recommended to support the use of PET-CT in radiotherapy treatment planning. If possible, training from nuclear medicine professionals would also be advantageous.

View Angle Tilting for in-plane distortion correction in MR-based RT planning and treatment.
Silke Hey, Gerald Schubert
Philips Healthcare, MR R&D, Best, Netherlands
Purpose/Objective:
Geometric accuracy is essential for accurate MR based radiotherapy planning and treatment [1]. In the vicinity of air cavities or metallic implants, local B0 variations lead to in plane and through plane distortions. View angle tilting (VAT) is an established diagnostic imaging technique to correct for large in plane distortions in the presence of metallic implants [2,3]. The application to MR based radiotherapy planning and treatment can help to improve in-plane geometric accuracy with minimal impact on scan time and image quality.
