Brachytherapy - Urology

ESTRO 2024

The injection procedure was tolerated without toxicities. The mean BT Rectum D0.1cc was 6.0(+/-1.6) Gy. Rectum V80% was 0% and Rectum V50% <50% in 90% of patients, respectively. Apart from one patient with grade 2 gastrointestinal (GI) toxicity during treatment (diarrhea during EBRT of pelvic nodes), no acute GI toxicities were reported. A partial or complete tumour response was found in all patients first follow-up at 3 months.

Conclusion:

Hyaluronic acid injection could be applied successfully as a focal spacer before salvage brachytherapy, resulting to effective rectum sparing in the high dose area. The treatment was completed without procedure-related and brachytherapy-related gastrointestinal toxicities in all patients.
