Conclusion:

This is the first study to our knowledge to investigate for an association between dose to prostate sectors and biochemical outcomes using a 12-sector method of prostate gland division. Results indicated that there did not appear to be an association between the D90% received by any prostate sector and outcomes of PSA bounce or biochemical recurrence. Regardless, prostate sector division remains an important tool to ensure that adequate coverage of the prostate gland is maintained in LDR prostate brachytherapy planning. Future work will focus on linking dose to prostate sectors and the location of the dominant intraprostatic lesion, as this may have a greater association with biochemical outcomes.
