Figure 2 shows the sphere position, determined from the ion radiographs, vs the expected position of the sphere according to the known table motion. The tracking accuracy achieved was < 5 mm for proton radiographs and < 2mm for carbon radiographs. Variations in scanning speed and pattern were found to greatly impact the appearance of the sphere in the resulting radiographs and the accuracy of position estimates.
