Conclusion:
A comprehensive IGRT workflow for partial brain irradiation in healthy mice including non-invasive response assessment was developed and successfully tested in vivo. UHF µMRI has a large potential for longitudinal studies in a pre-clinical research setting, but geometrical distortions from various sources need to be accounted for by shimming optimization and non-rigid MR to CT registration. For voxel-based analysis a resolution of 0.2 mm is feasible. To further improve the positioning accuracy the integration of liquid fiducials markers (BioXmark, Nanovi) and kV-based in-room imaging is envisaged, finally to be tested in an end-to-end test employing a mouse phantom 2 . Current work aims at the voxel-wise correlation of MR images with dose and LET d values.
Keywords: pre-clinical research, MRI response-assessment
