Conclusion:

The use of LET d optimization of large SC resulted in an increase of LET d in the GTV and CTV, while preserving robust OARs sparing and target coverage. The increase to the volume fraction receiving high dose from high-LET particles is expected to have a significant radiobiological effect and potentially increase the effectiveness of the treatments, especially for hypoxic targets.
