the audits of high energy electron beams, the mean ratio of stated dose to dose determined from RPLD (D_STATED/D_RPLD) was 1.009 (SD=3.6%, N=221). The corresponding ratios for high energy photon and Co-60 beams for the same period were 1.001 (SD=2.7%, N=1017) and 1.007 (SD=3.1%, N=83) respectively. Figure 1 shows that larger spread of results was observed for high energy electron beam audits compared to Co-60 and high energy photon beams. There was also a significant difference (P<0.00001) of results for high energy electron beams from countries with formal recognition of CQMPs compared to those that don’t have a formal process of recognition and registration (Figure 2).
Figure 1: Violin plot showing the spread of the ratio of stated dose to dose determined from RPLD (D_STATED/(D_RPLD) for Co-60, high energy photon and electron beams.
Figure 2: Violin plot of results of audits for high energy electron beams showing the significant impact (P<0.00001) of having a formal process of recognising clinically qualified medical physicist on the maximum deviation of results from expected.
