We gathered the five networks from the cross-validation into an ensemble by averaging the outputs and reached a final test score of 0.7705 C-Index. Finally, we showed that the predicted LF risks by our ensemble did not correlate with the BM volumes on the test set (r = 0.122, p = 0.229).
Conclusion:
Even with a relatively small training set in the context of deep learning, our methods could achieve competitive prediction results of time-to-LF within an independent external test set. This poses a valid alternative to radiomics approaches. Guiding the network by segmentation information and combination with clinical variables was key to enhancing the prediction.
