Purpose/Objective:
We plan to investigate the predictive performance of the multi-model radiotherapy data on the occurrence of radiation-induced hypothyroidism (RIHT) after intensity modulated radiotherapy (IMRT) for patients with nasopharyngeal carcinoma (NPC).
Material/Methods:
A total of 428 NPC patients were retrospectively recruited from a tertiary oncology center, and the computer tomography (CT) images, planning dose distributions, and clinical records were collected. The thyroid volumes were manually delineated by experienced oncologists. We calculated a comprehensive set of dosiomics and radiomics features in the thyroid regions of the CT images and dose maps after preprocessing using the pyradiomics package in Python. High-repeatable features were selected using the perturbation method[1], and the Mann-Whitney U test was used to select features with statistically significant associations with RIHT. The features satisfied the intraclass correlation coefficient > 0.9 during perturbation and p-value<0.05 in the Mann-Whitney U test were considered as having excellent repeatability and statistically significant.
