Purpose/Objective:

This study aimed to assess the predictive value of changes in 18-F-FDG-PET Δ-SUVmax (the difference in tumor SUVmax before and after treatment) and a variety of systemic inflammatory markers (changes from pre- to post treatment) in a large group of patients with locally advanced cervical cancer (LACC) who received concurrent chemoradiation (CRT) plus brachytherapy boost.

Material/Methods:

The study analyzed LACC patients treated at our institution between 2007 and 2021. Patients underwent definitive CRT, and their pre- and post-treatment measurements included 18-F-FDG-PET tumor SUVmax, prognostic nutritional index, and various inflammatory markers (e.g., neutrophil/lymphocyte ratio, platelet/lymphocyte ratio, etc.). Changes (Δ) in these values were calculated. The correlations between these changes, clinical parameters (e.g., age, hemoglobin level, BMI), tumor characteristics (e.g., FIGO stage, tumor diameter), treatment details (e.g., dose, fractionation, technique, overall treatment time), and local control (LC), distant metastasis-free survival (DMFS), disease-free survival (DFS), and overall survival (OS) were analyzed using univariate and multivariate Cox regression.
